Questions and answers
The questions that come up before a visit in Bridgewater and the towns around it: what each service involves, how scheduling works, and where the work stops.
Which towns does AMG Duct Cleaning Bridgewater serve?
Bridgewater and nine towns around it: Bound Brook, South Bound Brook, Green Brook, Warren, Watchung, North Plainfield, Bernards, Bedminster and Middlesex. That takes in sections such as Martinsville, Finderne, Basking Ridge, Liberty Corner, Pluckemin and The Hills. If your street sits near the edge of that map, ask and we will confirm.
When can you come out?
Visits run 8 AM to 8 PM, 7 days a week. Tell us the town and the service when you call or write, and we will offer the first openings that fit the route that week.
How can I tell whether our ducts are worth cleaning?
Look for dust or debris blowing from the registers, renovation dust, pets, signs of rodents or insects, or a system nobody has opened in years. The EPA names visible mold, vermin and excessive dust and debris as the reasons to clean. If none of those apply, a look inside the trunk line settles it better than a guess.
Our basement took on water. Is the ductwork ruined?
Not necessarily. Bare metal duct that dried out can usually be cleaned and kept, while insulated duct, lined duct and duct board that got wet are replaced. Along the river in Middlesex and both Bound Brooks, this is often the first thing sorted out on a visit.
Why does the dryer take so long to dry a load?
A clogged vent is the usual reason: lint packed in the run keeps hot, damp air from leaving, so the clothes sit in it. Go outside while the dryer runs and watch the hood flap; if it hardly moves, the vent is the first suspect. The NFPA advises cleaning the vent pipe once a year, and sooner when drying slows.
Can you put in a new dryer vent when the laundry moves?
Yes. A dryer vent installation carries rigid metal duct from the new laundry to the nearest workable outside wall, or up to the roof, and ends at a hood with a working damper, never in an attic or a garage. It is a common job when a laundry moves out of a basement.
Is a chimney we rarely use still worth checking?
Yes. A flue nobody uses still gathers leaves, nests and bits of mortar, and a flue that serves a gas water heater or a furnace is working whether or not anyone lights the fireplace. The U.S. Fire Administration recommends having chimneys cleaned and inspected each year.
Do you remove mold anywhere in the house?
No. The mold work stays inside the heating and cooling system, in the ducts and the equipment attached to them. Growth on walls, framing or in the attic goes to a remediation contractor, and we will tell you if we see it there.
What does an HVAC UV light do?
It shines on the evaporator coil and the drain pan inside the air handler, where it can help keep mold from growing back between cleanings. It does not replace a filter, dry out a damp basement or clean the ducts.
Do you work in townhome and condominium communities?
Yes, including communities with association rules on access, parking and roof work, such as those in The Hills. Tell us the community and what the management office asks for, and the visit is planned to fit.
Is AMG licensed and insured?
Yes, licensed and insured, with New Jersey Home Improvement Contractor registration 13VH13654300, and veteran owned. Associations and landlords can ask for a certificate of insurance before the visit.
How much will the work cost?
Prices are not published, because the job depends on the house: the number of systems and runs, the length of a dryer vent, the condition of a flue. The estimate is free and comes after someone has seen the system.
